My name is Alexa Young
I am proud to be part of OWN! - a female collective investigating ecological justice, the redefinition of womanhood and the decolonization of historical narratives. The project positions women and the land as allegorical bearers of transformational potential in a multicultural, empathetic future - moving away from the passive, sacrificial lens of diaspora and reclaiming the female right to adapt and transform within the fault lines of our time: in the body of the Earth, in the female body, in political systems, and in collective memory.
Through a curated multisensory fusion of painting and sound, the collective creates synaesthetic experiences in which image and music act as parallel translations of one emotional landscape. Synesthetic perception becomes a tool for somatic immersion, guiding the audience into an archetypal terrain where ecological empathy and mythopoetic vision meet.
